Sunshine Blogger Quiz

sunshine blogger quiz

I was nominated by Chandra at Italian Belly to participate in the Sunshine Blogger Quiz!  It’s a blogger interview where you answer some questions, then tag a few fellow bloggers to participate and it just continues on.

This is my first encounter with one of these “tag a blogger” type chain letters, and it was a lot of fun.  Thank you Chandra for tagging me!

Now onto the questions:

Why did you start your blog?

Funny enough, I have a post I created quite a while ago now about why I started blogging.  While it’s not quite relevant to why I’m currently blogging, Why I Started Blogging gives a good account of my early reasons to start a blog.  Mainly I thought my daughter was going to be doing some acting, and I wanted to be behind the scenes with her and document some of the fun and interesting things she got up to.  I was also looking forward to just sharing our busy family life with others who may want to tag along!

What are you currently reading/watching?

I’m not one to binge watch anything – we don’t even have NetFlix!  My regular series’ are Murdoch Mysteries, Grimm, Once Upon A Time (although I’m getting a bit tired of it) and The Walking Dead.  We watch a bunch of other stuff as well (Big Bang Theory, Life in Pieces, Modern Family etc.) but if I miss a few of those I’m not too upset.

Reading – I read everything.  I do book reviews so I get books from all genres, but right now I’m reading some of the Murdoch Mystery books, and I’m in the middle of Shantaram – that’s a big book a co-worker lent me so I didn’t take it on my vacation.  My favourite genre is fantasy, with sci-fi a close second.  But honestly I’ll read most anything!

Which three words describe you best?

These are always so hard to answer!  Busy working mom.

What are you most afraid of?

I don’t know that I have one specific true fear.  There are lots of things that cause me anxiety – sick kids, travel in bad weather, too much to do and so little time…

I guess I’m most afraid of someone in my family being fatally injured or ill.

If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?

We just got back from a resort vacation, and I have to say it wouldn’t be that.  I want to travel somewhere with culture and things to see and do.  Maybe Egypt to see the pyramids and Sphinx.  And then a close second is a trip through Europe.  (Ideally I’d love to go alone so I could just do what I want, but realistically I don’t want to travel all by myself!!)

What do you eat for breakfast?

The first thing I do when I get up is make coffee.  I usually sip that while I get the kids up, fed, dressed, and off to the bus.  Sometimes I’ll eat whatever they thought they wanted but didn’t.  Often I make a smoothie in the morning (after the kids are ready) with frozen banana, greek yogurt, milk, oats, cinnamon and whatever other fruit is going bad in the fridge.  We often have melon or berries (frozen if no fresh stuff) I can throw in.  Once in a while I’ll change it up and have a bagel, and then there are the days where I forget to eat in the hustle bustle of the morning and hope there are snacks when I get to work!

Seared Ahi Tuna or med-rare T-bone steak?

I’ve never had tuna that didn’t come out of a can.  That’s not to say I wouldn’t try it, but I love a good steak.

What is your favourite movie?

Another tough question.  I see a lot of movies.  My favourite actor is Ewan McGregor and two of his movies are at the top of my list: A Life Less Ordinary and Moulin Rouge, with Nightwatch being right up there too.  I loved Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, and of course, I also loved all the Harry Potter movies. I guess I can’t narrow down one favourite movie!

Would you rather travel back in time to 1900 or travel into the future to the year 3000? Why?

Yet another thought provoking question!  As Murdoch Mysteries takes place in the early 1900s my first inclination is to choose that, but the idea of knowing what’s to come in the future holds a lot of merit as well.  Maybe I’d choose the future because I already know what it was like in the past.

What’s your hidden talent?

I don’t think I have one.  I love to sing, and I’m okay at it – we sing a lot at work.  Over the last year it’s become clear to me that I love to write!  But again, not really hidden as I’m sharing all over the blog-o-sphere!  I play piano.  I don’t hide it, but I haven’t played in ages either.  And I’m trying to learn ballet.  It’s not a talent yet, but I’m slowly getting better!

Those are my answers!  Now I nominate 4 bloggers who may be interested in participating.

  1. Thanks so much for participating! That was so much fun to read! I looooved Shantaram. Your morning breakfast routine made me laugh: eating what your kids thought they wanted but didn’t and throwing in the fruits that are going bad in the fridge. LOL! I also play the piano and dance ballet! So much in common. Again, was a joy to read your interview.

  2. What a fun post! Me, too, to not having Netflix, to coffee in the morning, and to love for a good steak! Thanks for sharing this peek into you…stopping by from#alittlebitofeverything! 🙂

  3. A great post. I can so relate with “busy working mom”. With all the balls we as working moms have to keep in the air, I sometimes can’t see myself as too much more. #alittlebitofeverything

    1. The “Busy working mom” life can be tough. It’s important to make some time for you, although sometimes that’s hard to schedule too. We do the best we can, am I right?
