Wearing face masks is our new reality. We have been asked to wear masks in Kingston whenever we visit a public setting.
Face masks are mandatory, not only to protect ourselves, but also to protect the community at large. Our Covid cases have been low, however we have seen a significant outbreak locally. For the safety of our community, the local health unit mandated that masks must be worn when physical distancing will be difficult to maintain.
This mandate came into effect on June 26, 2020. Since then we’ve seen a huge need in the community being filled by local businesses and people clever with a sewing machine.

Kingston is full of industrious souls who are making face masks. After asking around (on my FB page and through my email list) I’ve put together a list of people who are making and selling reusable face masks.

Local businesses selling face masks:
Downtown Kingston has a list of businesses selling masks. Check it out here.
Some other businesses selling face masks were suggested to me, but I wasn’t able to confirm with them:
The more I immerse myself in the local business community here, the more I am amazed by the support and outreach of the community that is Kingston. Read a few more things I love about my hometown: Reasons I love Kingston Ontario.
We won’t be getting away from wearing face masks any time soon. And with the uncertainly of school in the fall, we may all need to stock up.
Consider local merchants and makers when you head out to find your new favourite face masks!
